For the Love of a Dingo by Pamela King

indie ebook cover

Berenice became fascinated by Dingoes at a very young age. Her fascination became almost an obsession and as a young woman she spent many hours researching and studying the Dingo and she devoted over 40 years of her life as the Dingo’s advocate. Committed to observing, studying, breeding and being at one with the Dingo’s spirit she became a recognised authority on Australia’s Native Dog and rewrote what people believed about the Dingo.

She became known worldwide simply as the “Dingo Lady” and founded the Australian Native Dog Training Society (ANDTS), later known as the Australian Native Dog Conservation Society (ANDCS).

As the Dingo’s champion she took every opportunity to promote understanding of the Dingo, fight for its recognition and acceptance as the native dog of Australia and to educate the public on the truth about its characteristics and behaviour.

The stories in this books about three of her Dingoes, Dora, Napoleon and Snowgoose, demonstrate the love she had and dedication to a falsely maligned Australian native animal.

About The Author...

indie author

Pamela King

I am a former Tourism and Marketing Consultant, Event Co-coordinator and customer service trainer. I have a son, step son and my first grandchild is expected next year.

Now semi-retired I have published two books. I write three blogs and review books for Indie authors. I have three other books in the pipeline including a major research project.

Why I wrote Angel with Drumsticks
The writing of the book was important to me in many ways. Having met my husband, Angelo, when I was in my 40s we had not grown up together and his experience in the 1960s was something he talked little about.

Gradually the story came out over the years I convinced him that the story should be written and the truth told. As we talked over his sometimes bitter, sometimes sweet memories spanning six years I came to understand him so much more. I am proud that finally his story has been told.

For the Love of a Dingo is just a start
For the Love of a Dingo is the second stage of a major project that will lead to the writing the full biography of Berenice Walters, the Dingo Lady. The past three years I have spent my spare time sorting, filing, cataloguing and digitising her records bequeathed to me by her daughter.

My next book, to be titles I Sing with Dingoes will be Berenice’s full biography. It This will be the culmination of major project I have undertaken to preserve both her records and her story.
