Mistress of the King by Rex Sumner

A tailor's daughter at the age of 6 has her life ruined by the queen, who takes her for a holiday in the palace and teaches her to be a lady. Growing up she becomes alienated from her own class, and leaps at the chance to return to her fantasy life.
Meeting the now widowed king changes everything, and she grows up faster than she could imagine, a target to be destroyed or used by all factions in the Kingdom.

I write Hard Historical Fantasy. Why hard? Because I need to get it correct, to write about the way things were and 90% of the stories I tell are based on what actually happened. I put in little facts about the past, like farmers growing bere, the original barley.
I live and write in Bali and am currently researching early religion, which will show itself in my next book. My stories are linked, based on Harrhein, a country somewhere in Europe. The main series is based on conquest, by accident.
I've been a soldier and worked in many professions, and I understand NLP, all of which are elements which end up in my writing. I write for my own pleasure, the sort of books I want to read. Good stories, a journey, progress, fun, laughter, tragedy, adventure. Not the usual books of today but more from a by-gone era.
