Slippery Souls (Sunray Bay Series, #1) by Rachael H Dixon

| Short-listed for the Writing Magazine's Self-publishing Award 2011, Slippery Souls is a fun paranormal mystery that doesn't take itself too seriously!
'Libby has hit a bad patch in life and, just when she thinks things can’t get any worse, she's killed in a car accident alongside her dog Rufus. During their transition to the afterlife’s Sunray Bay, Rufus somehow manages to absorb her soul – which, in turn, gives him human-like qualities and renders her soulless.
Accompanied by her now talking dog, Libby tries to unravel the mystery of her slippery soul, encountering many setbacks and dilemmas along the way. She has no idea why a group of monster slayers, headed by an ex-convict, are hunting her down, and when she teams up with rogue Peace & Order Maintenance Officer, Grim, she’s shocked to discover that there’s a mob of disgruntled vampires and a very angry mayor hot on their heels too.
Libby has never felt so unpopular, and begins to wonder whether it’s possible to die twice in one day...'

About The Author...
Rachael H Dixon

Rachael H Dixon lives in the cold and windy northeast of England. She craves sunlight and warmth, and as such her skin is so white it's almost translucent.
She's been writing ever since she could hold, albeit strangely, a pen, and her preferred genres are horror and urban fantasy. She has two novels published to date, which are part of the on-going tongue-in-cheek series called the Sunray Bay Series. When writing them she was massively inspired by all the British seaside resorts that formed a big part of her own childhood – especially Whitby, which was the town Bram Stoker wrote about in Dracula. She got to wondering what Mr Stoker would have thought about Whitby these days with its arcades, fish & chip shops and candy rock stalls – and that's when she decided to put a fun twist on the vampire genre. She has also had numerous short horror stories published on ezines and in hard copy anthologies.
As well as writing, Rachael loves reading and reviewing fiction, going on walking adventures with her two whippets, drinking red wine (especially Chilean merlot), admiring Gil Elvgren art work and going on fairground rides (upside-down or spinny things...it's all good). And she often wonders whether she's the only writer in the whole world who doesn't like coffee.
