Yet, unlike the Hollywood inspired fantasy, Rāmāyan is based on what many believe to have really happened during mankind's distant past.

Did the galactic adventures of Rāma actually occur aeons before the catastrophic global floods or Pralay destroyed most human settlements (triggered by meteor strikes and corresponding geological upheavals around 12000 BCE)? Did the Pralay compel mankind on Earth to restart their history from primitive levels? Was Rāmāyan reconstructed by Valmiki many millennia later, based on fragmented remains of its original content? Was the translated version coloured by the retrograde socio-tech situation prevalent during his times, thereby limiting its scope to the terrestrial ambiance alone?
