STRIKE PRICE, the second Lynn Dayton thriller, won the Texas Association of Authors' first place award for best mystery/thriller. Five-star-reviewed 13 DAYS: THE PYTHAGORAS CONSPIRACY is the first in the series, and Starks is now writing the third. Three of Starks' short stories have been published in Amazon Shorts and Kindle Direct. Since the publication of 13 DAYS: THE PYTHAGORAS CONSPIRACY, L. A. Starks has been a featured speaker on energy issues and on writing at 150 events.
Starks was born in Boston, Massachusetts, grew up in northern Oklahoma, and now lives in Texas. She earned a chemical engineering bachelor's degree, magna cum laude, from New Orleans' Tulane University, followed by an MBA in finance from the University of Chicago. She is the co-inventor of a US patent for lithium alumina. Working more than a decade for well-known energy companies in engineering, marketing, and finance from refineries to corporate offices prepared her to write global energy thrillers.
L. A. Starks is multi-published on dozens of energy topics at two investor websites: Starks Energy Economics and Seeking Alpha. Her energy articles have appeared in The Dallas Morning News, The Houston Chronicle, The San Antonio Express-News, Natural Gas, and Oil and Gas Journal. Her writing craft articles have appeared in Mystery Readers Journal, Sleuth Sayer (MWA-SW newsletter), The Thrill Begins (an International Thriller Writers’ blog), and other blogs.
Starks has run thirteen half-marathons. Her six years of service to the Friends of the Dallas Public Library (FoDPL) board included working as treasurer, investment committee chair, and development chair.
