Small Folk Rhymes Part Two by Christine Larsen
Following on the heels of the popular first book in the 'Small Folk Tales' series, this collection of jokes, riddles and other mental activities is based on all the beloved characters from the original 'Small Folk Rhymes'. The chapters continue with the same cheerful and appealing names, but I was inspired to expand on their sounds (if they were animals), and colours (if they were clip art characters) and numbers and letters, all delightfully mixed up with a heap of funny riddles and jokes.
There is as much fun contained in this small book for the out-loud reader and the early reader alike, as they play with sounds and share some especially happy moments, looking more closely at the world around them.
Research for a book like this is a joy, providing me with endless fun and learning too, as I sift through ideas and find appropriate pictures to accompany and enhance my words.
My first children's book - the first part of 'Small Folk Rhymes' - earned a 5* Editorial Review and an average 4.3* Customer Reviews, so I'm feeling confident this second part will be even more appealing as it revisits and explores further into 'Guppy Puppies' and 'Lonesome Shoes' and other memorable subjects.
You don't have to own the first book to enjoy Part 2, but be warned - it could well prove irresistible.
About The Author...
Christine is an ex-secretary, wife, mother, grandmother – and a farmer for more than 40 years, now living on and enjoying this end of her life on a retirement farm in beautiful Australia.
Decades ago, in the belief that editors' rejections equalled no talent, she put her creations away on a back shelf to gather dust. Instead she concentrated on raising a family and meeting the various needs of farming, including successfully raising a myriad of animals, nine of which were kangaroos.
Christine has been rescuing something or someone ever since – on Lifeline telephones; adopting three 'special needs' children; in the community as a Careworker; animals from shelters; and from the Charity shops – abandoned small knitted folk.
Throughout these years she remained an avid reader and wannabe author, constantly 'moodling' about this – until, like a volcano, Christine's creative writing skills had no choice but to erupt, and here she is - working her fingers to the bone on her computer and having the time of her life.
