I am an ROC (Taiwan) citizen, born and bred in the UK. I began travelling in 1981 and soon found I didn’t want to go home. I used to write a lot as in my late teens (pre-Internet, so nothing available in digital form) and am now ‘making a comeback’! In the intervening years (decades rather), my artistic pursuits have been more oriented towards visual arts, as can be seen on my personal website, alixlee.com. At present I’m working on several projects, the biggest of which is the True Tales of a Traveller series. This relates some to the more interesting experiences in 35 years of travelling. Each of the stories in the series is priced at 0.99 on Amazon, with free periods arranged for each whenever possible. The full series will also be published in paperback in a number of volumes. True Tales of a Traveller: The Long Way Home

True Tales of a Traveller is a series of short stories consisting of several dozen traveller’s tales covering over three decades. Although presented in a short story format (in five volumes) for reading convenience, these stories are not fiction. Apart from some of the characters’ names which have been changed to protect their identities, everything in these stories is true. These stories do not all fit neatly into the ‘travel story’ genre, although some will indeed meet most readers’ expectations in this regard. Others are simply adventures - or misadventures - that happen to have taken place in various different countries. They will appeal to anyone with an interest in travel, contemporary history, geography, culture, or international relations, or anyone who just likes good short reads. Most of the stories are crafted to provide information on the locations featured in them, and thus also have a useful educational function! The first of this series of stories is called Goodbye Sinai, which is set in 1982, at the time of Israel’s return of the Sinai peninsula to Egypt. The second of this series of stories is called Working Holiday, and is set in Athens, Greece, in the early 1980s. The third story in the True Tales series (this story) is called The Long Way Home. At over 17,000 words, the story borders on novella length. Unlike the first two stories of the series, The Long Way Home is set not in one country, but in half-a-dozen. But like the other stories in the series, it provides not only an entertaining read, but also information on all the places visited, some relevant only to the era in which the story is set, and some still relevant today. In addition to being a travel story, The Long Way Home is also a love story, and a story about the unexpected twists and turns that can occur in personal relationships.
