Darren Scothern is the author of many short stories and poems, and the novel Blood Brothers.

Darren was born in 1965, into a poor, lower-working-class family in Sheffield, England.

An early fascination with Marvel comics provided escapism from his deprived surroundings, and instilled in him a love of storytelling.

He has produced a number of excellent genre stories and novellas which have been published in various small press magazines and websites. His award winning SF tale 'The Key to Heaven's Gate' was included in Absent Willow Review's 'The Best Horror, Fantasy and Science Fiction of 2009'. Many of Darren's works are now available on Kindle.

Certain motifs crop up again and again in his stories; religion, abusive relationships, addictions, insanity. As Darren says; "I like to write about extremes in life, extreme behaviour, strangeness and pain. That's where the drama lies."

Darren has a son, David.
