Fractured Image: Catherine Winter, Private Investigator (Catherine Winter Series, Book 2) Fiction - Crime, Mystery

Fractured Image
Second Novel in the Catherine Winter Series

“Whenever I am confronted with death, I cannot help but be aware how fragile life is and how vulnerable we are. Everything can change in a split second.”
~Catherine Winter, Private Investigator

Private Investigator, Catherine Winter has seen it all in her many years as a Southern California PI. Widowed and in her sixties, she has no desire to retire. She frequently says she will not give it up as long as she can hit a target with a .357 slug. Determined, and dedicated, she often works alongside the Los Angeles police in investigating crimes.

The badly beaten body of USC professor of astronomy, Frederick Holloway is found outside Griffith Park Observatory. In their hunt for his killer, Catherine Winter along with Los Angeles Homicide Commander John Anderson and his detectives must determine if the professor is the victim of a hate crime, a random attack, or a premeditated killing.

Shattered Lens: Catherine Winter, Private Investigator (Catherine Winter Series) Fiction - Crime, Mystery

"Hollywood is glitter and gutter. Some make it to the top and stay there, basking in the splendor of it, while others hit bottom and are engulfed by the ugliness of it." ~Catherine Winter, Private Investigator

In the first novel of the Catherine Winter Series, Shattered Lens, the stalking of two young professional print models leads private investigator Catherine Winter into the dark and dirty shadows of Hollywood's entertainment elite. Portraits of these people become distorted and out of focus as murder, pornography, illicit drugs, and blackmail color the view while Catherine searches for truth and justice. Catherine, now widowed and in her early sixties, insists, "As long as arthritis doesn't lock up my joints or my eyes don't keep me from hitting the bulls-eye with a .357 slug then my shingle will stay on my door, 'C. Winter, Private Investigator.'"

"Linda Pendleton's first private-eye novel is a brilliant debut." ~Richard S. Prather, Author of the Shell Scott Mystery Series.

Corn Silk Days: Iowa, 1862 Fiction - Historical

Iowa, 1862--

Corn Silk Days is the dramatic story of two families, four generations, during a time when the United States was seriously divided by war, North against South, brother against brother, father against son; a time of upheaval, distress, and death. Adding to the horrific war time events were the struggles within four generations of one family and extended family as they dealt with family secrets, denials, fears, challenges, love, romance, grief, healing, and courage. In the summer of 1862, Iowa farmer, Silas Storm, volunteers for the Union Army and his wife, Elizabeth Jane, pregnant with their second child, must maintain their farm and meet the many challenges the absence of her husband creates.

The wise patriarch, Alexander Storm, Silas' grandfather, struggles to keep the families in a stable condition as best he can, but circumstances, events, and family dynamics, make it nearly impossible to do so. The war not only becomes a life-changing event for Silas and other family on the battlefield, but also for those at home who find their own lives changing drastically while facing adversity. Like Silas Storm, dodging the next Rebel bullet that may pierce the air, they, too, must deal with their fears and transform those fears into courage. The question is: will they be able to do that?

Although the book is a fictional account of life during the Civil War, author Linda Pendleton, has woven actual letters written by her great-great grandfather into her story, staying true to the military facts presented in his letters home to his wife.

"Well Janie, when I heard of the death of Lincoln it appeared to me that I had lost one of my mightiest friends. He was the soldiers' best friend, but he had done enough in this world and the kind hand of Providence called him home to live in peace." ~Silas, May 1865
