Joe Perrone Jr. is an author with a diverse background that includes a stint as a sports writer with a prominent New Jersey newspaper, the Herald News, and several years spent freelancing as an advertising copy writer. He has had numerous short stories published in the Mid-Atlantic Fly Fishing Guide, and was just invited to write a short story for an online fly-fishing site. In addition to his writing, Joe spent ten years as a professional fly fishing guide on the historic Beaverkill River in New York's Catskill Mountains. Nearby Roscoe ("Trout Town USA") serves as the setting for Joe's second Matt Davis Mystery, Opening Day.
The first Matt Davis mystery, As The Twig Is Bent, has had tremendous success, selling nearly 10,000 copies in paperback and Kindle. Joe's other books are: Escaping Innocence (A Story of Awakening) and A "Real" Man's Guide To Divorce (First, you bend over and...).
When not writing, Joe can be found fly fishing the many quality trout streams found throughout the surrounding area of North Carolina. He also enjoys cooking, listening to music (anything but hard rock), car trips with his wife, Becky, and relaxing with his cats. He and his wife live in the mountains of Western North Carolina, with their two Callicos, Cassie and Callie.

Opening Day Fiction - Crime, Mystery

Young girls are coming through a small Upstate New York village, but, they aren't all coming out--alive!
Following a close brush with death as an NYPD homicide detective, Matt Davis takes early retirement, and accepts what appears to be a cushy position as Chief of Police of a three-man department in a small, rural Upstate New York village. While out fishing on his favorite stream on the opening day of trout season, Matt stumbles across the murdered remains of a body, barely recognizable as a human being, killed approximately six months earlier. With no real physical evidence-no clothing, no identification, and no clues-it's up to Matt to not only identify the murderer, but to find the identity of the victim.
But, in the end, it's the revelation of the unlikely killer's identity that will shock this tight-knit community to its very core, and leave the reader begging for more. Opening Day is the second in the Matt Davis Mystery Series, and picks up where As the Twig is Bent left off.

Escaping Innocence (A Story of Awakening) Humor

At Last, a Coming—of—Age Novel That Captures The Essence of the Sixties...
David Justin is an Italian-Catholic, height-challenged youth, who is desperate to escape the bonds of sexual repression and adolescent innocence that hold him captive in the Age of Aquarius. Determined to cross that invisible line that separates childhood from manhood, David and his friends approach every encounter with a member of the opposite sex as a potential “first time.” Yet, they are always thwarted, due primarily to their own laudable sense of propriety. Their efforts are heroic yet laughable at the same time.
But, this is the “The Sixties,” the era of “sex, drugs, and rock 'n' roll," and David will not be deterred—or will he? Find out what happens, as you follow his hilarious misadventures in Escaping Innocence (A Story Of Awakening) by Joe Perrone Jr. Available in regular and large print paperback and Kindle editions.

A "Real" Man's Guide To Divorce (First, you bend over and...) Humor

A “Real” Man's Guide To Divorce (First, you bend over and…) by Joe Perrone Jr. — is a humorous look at the subject of divorce from an admittedly one-sided perspective. Author Joe Perrone Jr exposes the myths and fallacies of this most painful experience in a light-hearted manner that will leave you in stitches. Some very good advice and a heavy dose of laughter make A "Real" Man's Guide to Divorce (First, you bend over and…) a "must read" for every man headed down the road to marital division! Buy one for yourself; buy one for a friend. Perfect for that “special” reading room.

As The Twig Is Bent Fiction - Suspense / Thriller

Someone is killing women in the Chelsea district of Manhattan - but, who? The only clues: a signature heart carved into each victim's breast (inside, the initials "J.C." and those of the deceased); copies of the New Testament (with underlined passages referring to infidelity); and fingerprints of a juvenile arrested in the 1960s. On the case is Matt Davis, a plodding but effective NYPD homicide detective who is addicted to fly fishing - and chocolate. Helping him is his one-quarter Mohawk Indian partner, Chris Freitag, to whom he owes a long-standing debt of gratitude. Complicating things is Rita Valdez, a female cop looking for "true love," and not too particular about where she finds it.
"As the Twig is Bent" is an explosive thriller that rips the lid off the sordid underbelly of Internet chat rooms, and propels the reader on a no-holds-barred journey toward its bone-chilling conclusion. CAUTION: Contains graphic sexual material that is inappropriate for some readers.
