"Dementia Diary: A Caregiver's Journal,"reads like fiction and covers the fifteen year period from the author's father's shocking death in a department store to his mother's 92nd birthday.

Bard Memorial Hospital Poetry
Poetry about hospital, doctors, patients? Why not?
The author's more than 25 years in hospital management form the backdrop for this work. The events described in some of these pieces may be hard for the reader to believe. While the subject matter is, of course, fictional, it was inspired by real happenings that he either witnessed personally or heard about. He has changed names and places, and has combined or compressed factual material to protect the identities of real people.
Most people think of hospitals in terms of doctors, nurses, therapists, x-ray and medical technicians, food servers, and housekeepers. They don't give much thought to purchasing agents, storeroom managers, pharmacists, secretaries, accountants, clerks, sterilization staff, boiler plant operators, painters, carpenters, photographers, messengers, administrators, social workers, and morgue attendants.
There are also Medical Records Rooms, Medical Libraries, Graphic Arts Departments, Mail Rooms, Copy Rooms, Computer Rooms, to name a few lesser known non-clinical departments. And let's not forget the volunteers who give generously of their time and money to guide, assist and sustain the hospital's operations and growth: the Boards of Trustees with lawyers, CPA's, business people; and the various Auxiliaries with homemakers, retirees, and teenage "candystripers."
Vignettes and poems about most of these characters can be found within the pages of "Bard Memorial Hospital" and should provide a familiar chuckle or twitch of recognition to anyone that was ever a patient or visitor to a modern hospital facility.
